She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard; daughters, Kasey (11) and Sarah (4); her mother, Geraldine McGing; and brother, Michael (Jane and nephew, Keith McGing). Preceded in death by her father, Michael McGing. Memorial services were held in Largo, Florida. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Dyer (219 865-2271) on Monday, November 22, 1999 at 5 p.m.

Catherine McGing was born about 1803 in Croaghrim, Mayo, IrelandG.³ She and John O'Mara were married in 1830 Guess based on children. She died on December 1, 1891, at age ~88, in Kilbride, Mayo, IrelandG.

Oldest McGing
The question is how does this person fit with the theoretical lineage DNA is proposing? As one of the oldest, he/she could be a sibling to others we know of but are unaware of the sibling relationship. If a Male McGing/McGinn Ging of this line could Y-DNA test at least a 37 (but must stress 67 is better) we'd know more and could triangulate back to the shared ancestor. Moving earlier in time here is all conjecture, but looking for evidence and DNA is a key piece. But in this specific instance, we know of no siblings nor parents, so that isn't possible.

The time period is against us as few records for the area exist for birth, marriage or death.

The couple married later than what is usual (in their 30s, based on the dob of the known children).

Another family researcher states her father was Thomas McGing, 1780 - ??. I have no Thomas's of that time period although I do have date unknown Thomas's. Certainly those brothers that I hypothesize must exist about 1770 or so could include a Thomas. But they are all from around Dublin, so the geography becomes an issue.
