WINDSOR - Carolyn Farmer Furman, age 74 of Oakwood Lane passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Suffolk. A native of Portsmouth, she was a Childcare Giver in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for over 25 years; and was a charter member of Living Waters Christian Fellowship and member of the Choir. She is predeceased by her husband John Abbitt Furman, Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela Dawn Anderson and her husband Ronald of Windsor; two sons, John Abbitt Furman of Norfolk and James Mason Furman of Portsmouth; two sisters, Linda Tripp and Sandra Fortier, both of Morgans Corner, N.C; two brothers, Buryl Farmer of Navaree, Fla. and Gene Farmer of Palm Bay, Fla.; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in Living Waters Christian Fellowship by the Rev. Brian Adams. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel on Tuesday from 6 – 7:30pm.

(Research):Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) Lester of Weston went to be with the Lord on Sunday January 26, 2020 after an extended illness.

She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on July 12, 1944 to the late Kathleen Wright Lester and Paul Robert Lester of Weston and St. Mary's.

Two daughters survive her, Susan James along with her grandson, Jesse Daw and wife, Julie and granddaughter Chloe and Susie Bernstein and companion, Timothy Buchanan and daughter Roberta Audette Baker and husband, Richard along with grandson, Michael, Jennifer and Savannah.

Additionally she is survived by two sisters, Ella LaFave and Margaret Reep and three brother, John Lester, Charles Lester and wife, Janet along with son, Tyler and David Lester and wife, Marie. Additionally Betsy is survived by dozens of loving and caring nieces, nephews and cousins and other family members too numerous to mention.

Her parents, infant daughter, Kimberly and a sister, Caryl Ward, preceded Betsy in death.
Betsy enjoyed drag racing, bowling and was a Michael Waltrip NASCAR fan. Later in life she enjoyed sitting on her porch reading James Patterson novels and watching birds especially the many humming birds that visited her feeders and worrying about her cat and companion Kaylie.

Her wishes to do donate her body to the WVU Medical Science Department were honored.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
