(Research):Note from a researcher - Mary Thornton, born about 1830, was a sister of my great-grandmother Catherine Thornton. According to the wife of a Mylotte 3C1R in The Neale who had researched Mylottes/Mellottes in the 1980s and got invaluable information from old neighbours, Mary Thornton's first marriage was to Thomas Mylotte, the older son of Thomas Mylotte & Sarah Molloy. That marriage must have been in the 1840s. There will be no record of it because Cong & The Neale RC parish records only began in 1870. Two sons were born during the marriage before Thomas Mylotte died, probably in his 30s, some time before Jan 1854. There will be no record of the two sons' births either because they were both born before 1864/1870.

Mary Thornton's second marriage was to Thomas O'Malley on 31 Jan 1854 in Ballinrobe where RC parish records began earlier than they did in Cong & The Neale. It seems you already have the attached church marriage record. I believe that Naly is a mistranscription. I read it as Maly when I looked at the record on microfilm at the LDS family history centre in London. I also read the forename of the female witness as Caty and "Cong" was written in the margin. Caty/Kitty Thornton was almost certainly Catherine Thornton, Mary's sister and my great-grandmother.
