Furman, Jr., Sharon, PA, formerly of Toledo, Ohio and Virginia, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at his residence following a brief illness. He was 69. Mr. Furman was born January 30, 1939, in Eclipse, Virginia, a son of the late William R. and Margaritte Turner Furman. He attended Chuckatuck Schools in Nansemond County, Virginia Mr. Furman owned and operated his own trucking company for the past fifteen years and leased to Chadderton Trucking, Sharon. He previously worked as a truck driver for Steele Trucking, Brookfield, Ohio; Interstate Trucking Co, Toledo, Ohio; and Greenbriar Farms, Chesapeake, VA. He retired in 2007. He attended Grace Chapel Community Church, Sharon. Mr. Furman enjoyed woodworking. He was also an avid bowler and a member of several leagues throughout the years, most recently, the Saturday Night Pin Heads League at Thornton Hall Lanes, Sharon. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #261, New Castle; and #20, Toledo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Surviving are: his wife, Beverly J. Waterman, whom he married February 17, 1960; one daughter, Robin L. Dillon and her husband, Dave, Masury, OH; one son, William R. Furman III, Hubbard, OH; one sister, Hollis Groves, Franklin, VA; two brothers, James M. Furman and his wife, Diannah, Suffolk, VA; and Cletus H. Waterman and his wife, Margaret, Toledo; six grandchildren, David G. and Elizabeth Rae Dillon, Heath R. Dillon and his wife, Brandi, Nicole L. and Sarah A. Furman, and Heather Miles; one step granddaughter, Kimberly LaFarge and four great-grand-children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ann Furman. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205; or Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148 There will be no calling hours.
