Michael a theory Collins was born in 1800 in Mayo, IrelandG. He was married. He and Nancy were married.

FTDNA Big-Y matching between 2 Collins surnamed families demonstrates a familial connection with a most recent common ancestor about 1650. It will be impossible to document Irish records pre-1800 in Mayo because they simply are non-existent. Therefore, I have created a series of stand-ins, I named men who I am inventing as grandfathers in each of the two lines of Collins to be able to create a working theory of relationship. Anyone with "a theory" in their name is made up. Yes, real people with actual names had to exist but that is lost. But I find it satisfying to use the Y-dna dates, and create a structure to see relationships as if we did know these people.

It does show that the relationships between the Islandeady and Shanvallycahill lines is distant and outside the range of autosomal dna. And with poor records, we will only have this hypothetical. But if you take it as it is, it provides some structure to evaluate relationships.

John P. Collins was born in 1831 in Islandeady, Mayo, IrelandG. He and Harriet Stanton were married in 1867 in Iowa, United StatesG. He died in 1892, at age ~61, in Omaha, NebraskaG.

He makes my Mother's acquaintance. And in a short time, they were married. My Mother's name was Stanton. On her Mother's side the name was Rush, and Gallagher. They also came from Mayo near Ballina.
