Harriett Mildred Forrest Ayers, 93, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 14, 2018. Mildred was born on Feb 23, 1924 in Poquoson, to Claytor and Virginia Forrest. Mildred's home for the last 50 plus years was on Whiting Street in Hampton, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Ayers Sr; her sons, Robert D. Ayers Jr and Lawrence W. Ayers; a grandson, Richard Claytor Ayers; and a granddaughter, Amanda Louise Ayers.

Mildred is survived by her son, William Claytor Ayers and his wife Phyllis; daughter-in-law, Lucinda Ayers; eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Mildred graduated from Hampton High School in1941 and retired from Patrick's Hardware.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5:30-7 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Parklawn Memorial Park. The service will be officiated by Pastor Booker Brown of Central United Methodist Church where Mildred was a member. A reception will follow the graveside service.

HAMPT0N ? Lawrence Wilt Ayers, 47, died Thursday, May 13, 1999. A native and lifelong resident of Hampton, he was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Ayers had served in the Navy aboard the USS Newport News during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Ayers is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Ayers; his daughter, Laura J. Ayers of Williamsburg; his son, Wesley S. Ayers of Williamsburg; his parents, Robert D. and Mildred F. Ayers Sr. of Hampton; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert D. and Cindy Ayers of Hampton, William C. and Phyllis Ayers of Newport News; an uncle, Thomas Ayers Jr. of Yorktown; one granddaughter, Ivy N. DaVila of Williamsburg; two stepchildren, Michael L. Dye of Alabama and Derek A. Dye of Oklahoma; stepgrandchildren, Dawn J. Dye and Dalton A. Dye, both of Oklahoma; one grandniece and one grandnephew.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 1999, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. John Conner with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be sent to either the American Heart Association, 360 Southport Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach 23452; or the Hampton Volunteer Rescue Squads, P.O. Box 3509, Hampton 23663.
