(Research):Maria Frances McNally, formerly of Sharpsville, a resident for many years of Dearborn, Mich., passed away at 11:47 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, in Rivergate Convalescent Center in Riverview. She was 92.

Miss McNally was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Sharpsville, the fifth of six children to Walter and Helena Lally McNally.

She was a graduate of Sharpsville High School and the former Shenango Valley Commercial Institute, Sharon.

She moved to the Detroit area following her graduation from business school and after the death of her parents.

Maria was employed as a secretary in Michigan at Ford Motor Co., where she was quickly promoted to the position of legal secretary on the prestigious "Mahogany Row" on the top floor of Ford's World Headquarters. She worked there for more than 35 years. Her involvement at the highest levels of the company is revealed in the book, "The Dust and the Glory," which includes a chapter named after her.

After her retirement from Ford in 1981, Miss McNally worked and volunteered for various levels of the Catholic church, where she had always been active. For many years, she was the director of music at St. Joseph Church, Dearborn. She also played the organ at several other parishes in the Detroit area and worked for several years in the archives department in the chancery of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Walter, Thomas, William and Joseph McNally; and a sister, Patsy Shang.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
