She was born June 10, 1934 in Portland, ME to John and Pearl Joyce. Her mother died when she was very young. Her father remarried and moved to South Portland, ME where she spent most of her life.

After graduating from South Portland High School, she worked at Cushman's bakery where she met the love of her life, Ronnie Strout, and spent 65 wonderful years together. Mom and Dad were so happy when they moved from South Portland to Old Orchard Beach where they were the happy hour central at their condo in the Birch Hill Estates. Biography

Ronald Strout was born on April 22, 1933 in Portland, MaineG. He and Unknown were married. He and Joann Joyce were married on October 13, 1953 in MaineG. He died on August 6, 2018, at age 85, in MaineG.
Old Orchard Beach-Ronald C. Strout, 85, passed away on August 6, 2018 of Pulmonary Fibrosis at home with his family by his side.

Ronnie was born April 22, 1933 in Portland, Maine, the son of Ora and Aubine (Morrill) Strout.

He grew up in Nason's Corner and attended local Portland schools. He had two sons from a previous marriage; Ronnie Strout Jr. and Gary Strout.

He joined the Army from April 1954 to March of 1956 stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO where he was a cook.

He was working as a baker at Cushman's Bakery in Portland where he met his loving soulmate and future wife, Joanne. After Cushman's closed in 1964, he bought a variety store in Springfield, MA called "Strout's Spa" with a soda fountain bar and penny candy counter. During nights, he attended barber school.

He opened Ronnie's Razor's Edge in West Springfield, Massachusetts in 1968. As soon as they got to Springfield, they couldn't wait to get back to Maine and immediately started making plans. In 1971, the family moved to South Portland where he had his barbershop in Redbank for 33 years. His grandsons never went to a different barber until they became adults. His barber kit traveled with him and he would pop open a barber shop sometimes in the middle of a college dorm room much to the surprise of college roommates.
He was an active Elks club member for a number of years and he and Joanne were regular attendees at their dances.

Ronnie was an avid golfer throughout his life and was the happiest golfing at "the condo" in Woodstock, NH with his family. He was famous for introducing his best golf buddies and son in laws, Jeff and Joe, as his sons. His daughters would quickly pipe up and remind him though. He loved his New England Sport teams. We quite often planned parties around a football game on Sunday afternoons. We have great memories of attending Patriot's Games where the van doors would open and out comes the table, chairs, grill and the tail gate spread would start within minutes.

The family would like to thank the incredibly giving and supportive hospice staff specifically Sue Basford andTina Gilpatrick, for their positive attitude and enthusiasm.

He is predeceased by his brother, Ora Strout; sisters Gloria Sawyer, Barbara Drost; and a son Ronnie Jr.
