Funeral Mass for Julia Burke (nee Kerrigan), age 91, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor.

Mrs. Burke died Jan. 18, 2008, at her home in Mentor.

Born Dec. 20, 1916, in Shanvalleyard, Tourmakeady, Ireland, she came to America from Ireland in 1949, and had lived in Cleveland Heights for 34 years before moving to Mentor 16 years ago.

She was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor and a former member of Christ the King Church in East Cleveland and St. Agatha Church in Cleveland. She was a member of the Irish American Club-East Side Inc. in Euclid, the West Side Irish American Club in Olmsted Falls and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Mrs. Burke was honored by the United Irish Societies as 1993 Mother of the Year and in 2005 was honored by St. John Vianney Church Celtic Ball Committee for her Irish family support of catholic education. She enjoyed playing cards, especially "25" and Pinochle, knitting and making Irish soda bread.

She was loving mother of Michael J. Burke of Lyndhurst, Rev. Sean P. Burke M.M. of Hong Kong, Joseph T. Burke of San Francisco, Calif., James E. (Linda) Burke of Willowick, Thomas F. (Kathy) Burke of Painesville Township, Sr. Maureen A. Burke, S.N.D. of South Euclid, Judy A. (Ed) Bartel of Mentor, Kevin P. (Kathryn) Burke of Wilmette, Ill. and mother-in-law of Kathy Burke of South Euclid; devoted grandmother of Michael (Stacey), Tom (Katy), Brian (Aimee), Julianne, Kevin, Sean, Brendan, Patrick, Kevin, Michael, Matthew and Mary; and great-grandmother of Lauren, Ian, Patrick, Julia, David and Claire.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph P. Burke on Nov. 13, 1991; and brothers and sisters, Patrick Kerrigan, Nora Miller, Bridget "Bea" Coyne, Mary Reilly, Thomas Kerrigan, Nellie Ronan, Mick, Willie and James Kerrigan.

The family will receive friends at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Fr. Sean P. Burke, Mrs. Burke's son, will serve as main celebrant of the Mass. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township. (Research):Child
