Thomas Lally was born in 1833. He died in 1918, at age ~85.

My husband also knows that a brother of Padraig Mathu, a Thomas Lally who would be an uncle to Maire Nellie was evicted from Ballybannon or Gortnalderg at the time of the evictions. A landlord's gameskeeper was shot dead and the home-made bullet was wrapped in a leaf from a copy book. The name Thomas Lally was written on the page and of course Tomas Lally was arrested. Still they could find no proof and the writing wasn't his. After a lot of hassle he was set free, but evicted. Nora can tell you the story about that shooting better than me. It is a long story.
