Mary McGinn Basquill was married to Patrick Basquill in County Mayo, Ireland. She had six children Delia, Margaret, the twins Patrick & Mary, Michael and Thomas. In order to suppliment her families income she would periodically go to the United States to work as a house maid, sending money home. Her four oldest children would eventually emigrate to the United States. Delia seems to have been the first to arrive, she is listed in the 1920 census with her husband Patrick Wolff. Her two youngest children, Michael and Thomas remained residents of County Mayo thru out their lives.

Taking the the 1st 4 children, Anthony, Tom, Sara and Ellen into account has a couple of possibilities. These children could have been born in the "gaps" , with Mary the eldest and William the youngest and born inbetween. They would have to be from an another spouse if they are indeed children of Peter and are older than Mary, given the alleged age of Mary Duffy. (Otherwise she'd have been having children so very young that the only logical conclusion is that her dob is wrong, and she is older than thought or else her age is right, but the children were born to another spouse of Peter's or were born between 1905 and 1927.

I suspect they were born between 1905 and 1927.

However, this was rebutted by a relation - Also in your notes, I saw questions about the accuracy of birth dates, or the possiblility that there was a previous marriage for Peter given the apparent age difference between the two of them, . The dates you have look right. I have never heard any mention of a previous marriage. I was told he was a local bachelor, about 20 years older than Mary, and had been a friend of her father. Story has it that their mother thought the other daughters would be better able to fend for themselves than she would, so Mary would inherit the farm and a suitable husband would be found for her.

Patrick Boyle and Sarah Lally were married.

Mathew Lally was born in 1770. He was married.

Matt Lally, or Mathew was Maire Nellie's grandfather. We don't know if he had brothers or sisters or who his wife was. He had a son Patrick Lally. Known locally as Padraic Mathu. Mathu is Irish for Matt. Padraig Mathu was Maire Nellie's father.

She had four brothers, Pat Nellie went to Sharpsville and married a woman from Roscommon over there and had 6 daughters and a son. The son was killed in a car accident. One daughter married a McNally whose forebears were from this area, and one married a Coleman and had a son, a priest who visited us here back in the fifties, and I don't know any more about them.

Michael Nellie Lally was born in 1841 in Derryveeney, Mayo, IrelandG. He and Mary Dolan were married on February 26, 1867 in Ballovie Church, MayoG, Civil Marriage Record

Michael married a Mary Dolan. They had two daughters, one in the US and a Margaret Joyce at home. Margaret Joyce had three sons. One married and moved to England and died without having children. The other two sons were unmarried. There were two unmarried daughters who moved to Cleveland. One was Ellen Joyce.

Now to Mickel Nellie, or Michael Lally, to give him a right name. He married Mary Dolan. This man now was in the old family home. He had two daughters. Mary, who went to America and didn't marry. Maggie married a Michael Joyce so the old Lally home was changed to Joyce. They had three sons: Tom, Michael and Paddy. Paddy went to England, married and had a daughter and he died young. Tom and Michael never married and they have passed away. Mary and Helen went to Cleveland. Mary never married. Helen married and had no family. She is still living in Cleveland in her eighties now. Tom and Michael left their land and home to my daughter Nuala and her husband Paddy Dolan. He was a distant relation to the Joyces as I have mentioned their grandmother was a Dolan. Nuala and Paddy didn't need the Joyces home as they lived with us, and they sold it to Ann Burke who is a descendant of Maura Nellie. They kept the land of course and it was a nice little addition to this holding of land. (Research):Census Years 1901

Mary Nellie Lally was born in 1830 in Derryveeney, Mayo, IrelandG. She and Unknown Marey were married. She and Patrick Marey were married. She died in 1933, at age ~103.

Maire Nellie had several children. Her daughter, Bridget, was my great-grandmother. Bridget's sister, Mary, died a spinster. There was also a son, Tom, who lived in the area and had a large family. Michael Maree lived in Gortmore, was married but had no children. Martin Maree was a big man who went to Sharpsville or Youngstown. There is a Nellie Maree who lives in Chicago who might be able to help with the Maree side of the family.

Nora knew Mary Lally Maree or Maire Nellie (ca. 1830-1933). Mary Maree was called Maire Nellie - Maire for Mary and Nellie for her mother, Ellen Boyle. (her grandchildren called her Granny). Maire Nellie was a very small woman.

Nora had a chance to talk to Maire Nellie while Maire Nellie was visiting Thornton's shortly before she died. She wanted to chat with Nora because they were both from Derryveeney. Maire Nellie told Nora that she was related to both Nora's grandmother and grandfather. Nora and Mae Lally put their heads together and determined that Maire Nellie could only be related to both if Maire Nellie's grandmother was a Gibbons (ie Ellen Boyle's mother).

Maire Nellies father was Pat Lally, known as Padraig Mathu, for his father, Matt Lally.

Maire Nellie's husband was Pat Maree. He was called Paudeen. He was a man of small stature as well.

Martin Nellie Lally was born in 1840 in Mayo, IrelandG. He and Bridget Lally were married.

Maura Nellie's brother Martin married Bridget Lally next door. They had Mary who married Pat Gibbons, a neighbor, and they had a family of five
