Died of apendicitus

Was nicknamed Pincher, perhaps his father also. Died of apendicitis on 8/15/1932. The children raised themselves with the help of Mary "Tommie" McGing Gavin, a 1st cousin. If not for her they would have been separated and placed in foster homes. They often talk about the time a Health Inspector came to the home to see that they were not living by themselves. Mary Tommie saw the inspector from her house and ran through the fields. She came in the back door with eggs in her apron as if she was just back from coming in from the barn and told the Inspector she was looking after them. The Inspector believed her. She had her own family of 11!

In the message below, you asked for my father's name so you could ask my mother. My MOTHER'S father, who Penelope McGing married, is Patrick Mulroy, born in 1897 in Bohola (baptized in a church in "Straide"?). His parents were Thomas Mulroy and Mary McEvaddy. Their farm was in Laughtmacdurkan(sp).

Patrick's father died, and his oldest brother married (another Mulroy, believe it or not), making his sister-in-law the "woman of the house", despite the fact that their mother was still alive.

I've spoken to the granddaughter of the sister-in-law and confirmed that she had a "fiery personality". Apparently, most of the siblings, Patrick included, got fed up and left. Patrick went to England to mine at about the age of about fifteen (abt 1912). He subsequently emigrated to NY in 1921.

Patrick Joseph was raised on the Mulroy family farm in Laghtmacdurkan in Bahola. My mother says that Penelop and Patrick knew each other in Ireland although the connection is not completely clear.
