Patricia Marie Stuart (nee McNeely), 89, passed peacefully on May 22, 2013, after a brave battle with cancer.
She was the cherished daughter of the late Patrick and Marie McNeely; beloved wife of the late George Stuart; loving sister of Walter (Marian) McNeely and the late Winifred (Frank) Ocenas; treasured aunt of Kathie (KC) Danz, Michael (Marguerite) Ocenas, Joe (Valerie) Ocenas, Geri Schultz, Tom McNeely, Mimi (Kevin) Kazimer, Paul (Cathy) Ocenas and Therese (Dave) Stuckman; beloved great-aunt of 18 and great-great-aunt of 11. Pat was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and moved to Chicago with her family at a young age.
She entered the convent in her teens and, as Sister Therese Marie S.Sp.S., she dedicated many years of her life to missionary teaching with the Sisters of the Holy Spirit (Techny, IL).
Later in her career, she moved to San Diego where she accepted a new vocation and became a Dean in the San Diego Community College system.
There, she also met her beloved husband George, to whom she was married for 20 years.
Her greatest joys in life were teaching, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 1001 E. Schaumburg Rd., in Schaumburg.
Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JourneyCare, 405 Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010. Arrangements by Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, Palatine.
