(Research):Mary Lou Beals, 77, a resident at Menno Haven and formerly of Red Oak Lane, Shippensburg, died Monday, March 29, 2010, in the home. Born Jan. 20, 1933, in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Clara M. Olson Gray. Mary was a 1950 graduate of the Cooper Township High School in Winburne, and a 1954 graduate of the Millard Filmore Nursing School in Buffalo, N.Y. as a Registered Nurse. She retired in 1989 after 17 years of service as an RN from the Cumberland County Head Start Program. She later worked as a Registered Nurse for Dr. Freeman in Shippensburg and various other medical offices. She was a member of the Shippensburg Presbyterian Church where she taught Bible School, adult Sunday School Class and was active in the Lay Caring Ministry. Mary was involved in the Faculty Wives Club activities, loved bird watching and trips to the ocean, enjoyed reading, writing and drawing and had her work published in the Guide Post. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Paul E. Beals; two daughters, Sharon L. Hesse and her husband Scott, Hagerstown, Md. and Rebecca A. Kozlosky and her husband Joseph, Jonestown; two grandsons, Nathan Scott and Benjamin Paul Hesse, both of Hagerstown, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, at 3 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg with the Rev. Vernon D. Isner officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday from 1-3 p.m. in the funeral home.
