PENINSULA – Thomas W. Kelty Jr., 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019.

He was the beloved son of the late Catherine E. (Conaboy) and Thomas W. Kelty Sr. He was the dear brother of Kathleen (Greg) Naples of Hudson, Michael (Marcia) Kelty of Dublin, Robert (Coleen) Kelty of Youngstown, and Mary Eileen Ezzy of Kennebunk, Maine. In addition, he was the loving uncle of 13 nieces and nephews; the great-uncle of 17; and caring nephew of Eileen Kelty of Poland.

Tom served in the Peace Corps in Afghanistan for four years after he graduated from Ohio University, where he became fluent in Farsi and taught English. He was a counselor at the University of Washington for many years.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 340 N. Main St. in Hudson, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Tom's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
