(Research):Wabasha County Herald; April 27, 1905
Coleman Lydon, a resident of Wabasha county since 1855, died at his home in the village of Kellogg, soon after midnight Tuesday night. His funeral will occur Saturday morning. The services will be held at the Kellogg Catholic church at 9 o'clock, after which the remains will be taken to Highland and interred in the Conception Catholic cemetery beside his mother and the children who have gone before. For many months deceased has been in failing health and for several weeks past the end was looked for at any time. It came without a struggle and was a simple passing from the sleep of life to the sleep of death.
Deceased was a native of County Galway, Ireland, and was 72 years of age. Fifty years ago he came to Highland with the family of his brother-in-law, Patrick McDonough. Soon thereafter he settled on the claim in Watopa upon which he lived up to the time of moving to Kellogg two years ago. In 1857 he was untied in marriage with Miss Anna McDonough. She, with their children, Daniel and Edward of Watopa, Coleman C. of Kellogg, Patrick of Basin, Mont., Mrs. Edward McDonough of Cooks Valley and Mrs. John McDonough of Fargo, survive him. Coleman Lydon was a fine type of the successful pioneer. By toil and economy he built up a comfortable home and was the owner of one of the best farms in Watopa. He was ever a good neighbor, a loyal friend and a good citizen and husband and father. His life was an open book characterized by high ideal of honor and integrity. He was an honest man and a devoted member of his church. Long may his memory live.
