John D. Brumbaugh of 701 Second street, Juniata, who died Wednesday in Washington, D. C., was born In Clover Creek Aug. 7, 1891, a son of Josiah and Lucinda (Dilling) Brumbaugh. He was a graduate of Juniata College, class of 1909, and taught two terms of school in Logan township. He was an active member in the Church of the Brethren, Juniata, and the teacher of the Men's Bible Class.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alma (Nelson) Brumbaugh, one daughter, Miss Dorothy, at home, three sisters, Mrs. Elma Rogers of Leamersville, Mrs. I. E. Miller of Juniata, and Mrs R. E. Glass of Alexandria VA. One son, John, preceded him in death. Friends will be received at the Korns funeral home, Juniata, until noon tomorrow and thereafter at the Juniata Church of the Brethren.

Dorothy Bumbaugh was born on August 31, 1920. She died on October 25, 2014, at age 94, in Altoona, Blair, Pennsylvania, USAG.

She was born in Juniata, daughter of the late John D. and Alma (Nelson) Brumbaugh.

Surviving are several cousins: Roy and Arlene Glass, Ellen Teeter, and Brenda Dively.

Dorothy was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Nelson Brumbaugh.

Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1942 graduate of Juniata College. She spent 40 years as an elementary teacher in the Altoona Area School District. She loved children and felt blessed for the opportunity to work with them. She retired in 1982 from Noble School and was a life member of the Teachers Association.

Dorothy was a member of Altoona Grace Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the Women's Group.

Family and friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, Pastor Roy Glass and Pastor Rod Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Altoona Grace Brethren Church, 109 W. 14th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
