MOUTAINDALE, Feb 18 – Mrs. Nancy C. Noel, wife of Martin Noel, died last night at 10 o'clock as a result of burns received yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock when her clothing became ignited from burning rags in the kitchen stove at her home here.
Mrs. Noel, washing clothing in the kitchen of the home, come upon some rags which were useless and, rumpling them together, she placed them in the kitchen stove and then turned her back to the stove.
Some portions of the rags protruded from the stove and the blaze from these set fire to the dress of Mrs. Noel. When she discovered her clothing on fire she ran out of the house toward the chicken coop where her husband was working.

Clothing Burns Fiercely
Her efforts to reach her husband only fanned the fire and she was soon enveloped. Before her clothing could be removed, she was terribly seared over the entire body.
Help was summoned and she was taken into the house and medical aid secured. She lingered in great suffering, although conscious until a half hour before her death, until last night at 10 o'clock when she succumbed to the burns.
Mrs. Noel was born April 1, 1854. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mr. C.D. Youngkin of Mountaindale, one brother Abraham Troxell of Woodlawn, Pa. and one sister Mrs. Ella Curry of Youngstown, O., three grandchildren, three great-children and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Glasgow United Brethren church in Glasgow, in charge of Rev. Emenhiser and Rev. Rowe. Interment will be made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Alexander R. Troxell, died at his home in Utahville at 5 o'clock yesterday morning of a complication of diseases. He was born May 23, 1856, a son of Joseph and Hannah (Heverly) Troxell. Surviving are his wife, two daughters and five sons, F. S. and Giles H. Troxell of Bellwood, Blair, George and Raleigh Troxell of Utahville, Mrs. Alice Washburn of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Hannah Dillen of Blair City. Two sisters, Mrs. Martin Noel of Mountaindale and Mrs. Ella Curry of Youngstown, Ohio also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at Utahville.

Former Resident Dies
Clearfield relatives were advised of the death last evening at her home in Beccaria of Mrs. R. P. Root, a former resident of Clearfield. Mrs. Root, who was 63 years of age, had been ailing for some time from cancer of the stomach, and her death was not unexpected. She was a resident of Clearfield during the time her husband conducted a meat market on Third street some twenty years ago. A God fearing christian woman, Mrs. Root was a loving wife and mother and the best of neighbors. She is survived by her husband, one son, Joseph Root, of Pittsburgh; and two daughters, Mrs. H. H. Straw and Mrs. Melvin Owens of Clearfield street, this city. The funeral will be held from the Root home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with interment at Hagerty's Cross Roads cemetery.
