John H. Alexander, 76, native of Glasgow, residing in Daytona Beach, FL., died May 25, 1968, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He is the son of Samuel and Clara Alexander. Surviving are his wife, Lulu Mae; 3 children : Vivian Gresh, David G., and Samuel E.; and a brother, Budd G. He is a member of the Coalport Lodge, F&AM, Terre Haute Consistory, and life member of Zorah Shrine Temple there. Interment was made in Terre Haute. (Altoona Mirror, Wednesday, June 19, 1968)

OBIT - John H. Alexander, 76, Daytona Beach, Fla., and a former resident of Terre Haute. died at 7 p.m. Saturday in St. Anthony Hospital here. He is survived by the widow, Lulamae; two sons, David "Bill" Alexander, Daytona Beach, and Samuel E. Alexander, Meridian, Miss.; a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Gresh, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a brother, Bud Alexander, Harrisburg, Pa. He was, a member of Coalport, Pa., Masonic Lodge No. 574; Scottish Rite, Valley of Terre Haute; was a
life member of Zorah Shrine Temple of Terre Haute, and sang for many years with the Elks Chanters, a former local singing group. Funeral services will be at 2;30 p.m. Tuesday, at the J. N. Hickman and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip Stone officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Masonic memorial services will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Monday by the West Terre Haute Masonic Lodge No. 687. Friends may call. (Terre Haute Tribune, 27 May 1968.)

A memorial service for Mrs. Vivian A. Gresh will be held Friday, May 10, 2002 at 11:30 am at First Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, with Reverend Dr. Fred W Andrea officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Gresh, 89, of Aiken, SC, beloved wife of forty-eight years to the late Paul Gresh, died Monday night, May 6, 2002 at Shadow Oaks Assisted Living, Aiken, SC. Born in Franklin, PA, daughter of the late John and Stella (Youngkin) Alexander, she was a Prudential Agent during World War II and retired from TWA in 1978. Mrs. Gresh spent her career years in the Monroeville, PA, area and retired to Aiken, SC. in 1997, where she was a resident of Shadow Oaks and was a member of First Baptist Church. A daughter, Hazel G. Murphy, Aiken, SC; sons, Phillip A. Gresh, Hendersonville, NC. Col. Gary L. Gresh, Hendersonville. NC, and Donald A. Gresh, Aiken, SC; brother Samuel E. Alexander, Jackson, MS; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, survive Mrs. Gresh. In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Mrs. Gresh may be made to First Baptist. Church. P.O. Various notations shows his birthdate as 02/16/1870. However, the 1870 census (effective 06/01/1870) shows his age as 7mo 12da. If one subtracts 7mo 12da from the census date of 06/01/1870, the birth date would then be 10/20/1869. Have not yet located a birth certificate.
