Clearfield Progress- Thursday 8 July 1920- Prominent Clearfield Count Resident Dead_ Charles Wesley Heverly, a prominent resident of Clearfield County died Saturday morning at 5:40 at the Heverly Homestead near Utahville, following a stroke of Paralysis. He had been ill for some time. The deceased was a native of Clearfield County and was born 22 April 1844 being the son of Henry and Mary Heverly. He was one of fourteen children, seven boys and seven girls. Early in life he was married to Catherine Miller and fifteen children were born to the union. The widow and ten other the fifteen children survive as follows: William of Buffalo, Abraham and John of East Pittsburgh, Cecil of Youngstown, Ohio, Harry of McKeesport, Herbert of Utahville, Ralph at home, Mrs Grace Crist of Clearfield County, Mrs. Agnes Shaw of Utahville and Mrs. Jane Davis of Coalport. Of his six brothers and seven sisters but one brother and three sisters survive. They are as follows: James M. Heverly of Altoona, Mrs. Rose Yonkins, Mrs Ada Spangler and Mrs. Esther Beers, All of Coalport. Mr Heverly was a veteran of the Civil War. During his earlier life he followed lumbering work and just prior to the Civil War and following his return from the service, he was a raftsman, being engaged in taking logs down the Clearfield Creek to the Susquehanna River and thence down the river to Harrisburg, Marietta and other points where saw mills were located. Later he engaged in farming and followed this occupation during the greater part of his life. The deceased attended the United Brethren Church and the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with service at the church of that denomination at Utahville. Interment was made in the Utahville cemetery. Mrs. Roseanne Youngkin, widow of Andrew W. Youngkin, died at her home in Coalport Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. She was a daughter of Henry C. and Mary Heverly. She was aged at the time of her death 78 years. Deceased is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. A.T. Mellott, Mrs. Samuel Cowen, and Miss Esther of Coalport, Mrs. Stewart Gates and David A., of Beaver Valley, Henry C. of Tyrone, Loy H. of Altoona, and Mrs. Ellery Lucas, of Renova. One brother, James Heverly of Altoona, and a sister, Mrs. Esther Beers, of Coalport, also survives. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Beaver Valley United Brethren church at 1 o'clock with Rev. W.G. Hawk, pastor of the Alliance Church in Altoona. Interment was made in the Beaver Valley cemetery. Undertaker Troxell, of Glasgow, was in charge of the interment.

He was the 7th son of Henry, and was married 9 May 1877 in Cambria County with Rebecca Myers, who likewise represented a pioneer family which had located near Glasgow. Esther and John were married March 29, 1876

Mrs. Esther L. Beers, one of Coalport's oldest and most highly respected residents, died at her home in Coalport, Friday evening, February 19th 11:20 o'clock, after an illness of two months. Mrs. Beers was born at the old Heverly homestead near Utahville on May 15, 1856, a daughter of Henry and Mary Ann Heverly. She was united in marriage with John M. Beers on March 29, 1876. The Beers family moved from Fallen Timber to Coalport on January 1, 1884 and resided here ever since. The husband, undertaker John M. Beers, died in 1909. Mrs. Beers was a life long member of the Methodist Church at Coalport and was its oldest member. Mrs. Beers was an outstanding citizen and was known all her life as a lady of the highest integrity and honor, loved and respected by all who knew her. She was the youngest member of a family of fourteen children seven boys and seven girls. She was the last surviving member of the family. Surviving is one son William L. Beers of Cleveland, Ohio. Two twin children died in their infancy. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home with Rev. John P. McCurdy, pastor of the Coalport Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Glasgow.

Margaret was born Oct. 5, 1930, in Ottawa, to John and Lucille (Nevin) O'Neil.

Margaret retired from the bakery at Handy Foods in 2009. She taught CCD at St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of St. Patrick's Church.

She is survived by one son, Tony (Janet) Griglione; three daughters, Patricia Griglione, Sherri (Ray) Judy and Julie (Ron) Paquette, all of Ottawa; three sisters, Marilyn Kuhn, of Ottawa, Jean Jagelski, of Madison, Wis., and Joan (Eugene) Kunkel, of Granville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Griglione; and a granddaughter, Brittany Judy.

Pallbearers will be Ron and Dexter Paquette, Ray Judy, Nick Sergenti and Tabor and Jake Griglione.

Memorials may be directed to Pleasant View Residents Fund.

Joan Kunkel, 87, of Granville, passed away on November 21, 2021, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon, on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 311 Hennepin St., Granville, IL. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 noon, prior to the service at the church.

Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.

Joan was born July 19, 1934, in Ottawa, IL, to Lucille and John O' Neil. She married Eugene Kunkel, at St. Patrick Church, in Ottawa, IL, on August 7, 1954. Together they created a beautiful family, with a strong Catholic faith and values.

Joan lived a fulfilling life as a wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend. She was a homemaker all her life, and an active member of Sacred Heart and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Joan is survived by her husband, Eugene of Granville; five sons, Kevin (Becky) Kunkel, of Granville, IL, Brian (Julie) Kunkel, of Phoenix, AZ, Tim (Cheryl) Kunkel, of Princeton, IL, Patrick (Grethel) Kunkel, of Miami Lake, FL, and Chad (Cheri) Kunkel, of Batavia, IL; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jean Jagelski, of Madison, WI.

She was predeceased in death by her sisters, Marge Griglione and Marilyn Kuhn, of Ottawa; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, her wish was that donations, or memorials, be made to donor's choice.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family and her smile will continue to light our hearts!
