Shortly after retirement, she found that she had too much spare time and went to work at the Walkerville Liquor store; she truly enjoyed working there with her long-time friend Willene Mullaney, and said that "Leo McCarthy was the best boss she ever had".

In 1990 John Pat built our parents a new home and they shared their life together there until our father passed-away in 2009. Mom loved to have her children, grandchildren, friends and relatives at her "Dream house". She enjoyed her home and the beautiful view from her front porch, she would always call us to see if we were looking at the beautiful sunset.
