Peter Joyce Dever, 88, of Chippewa Twp., passed away Friday, January 19, 2018, surrounded by his family at Heritage Valley, Beaver. Born January 29, 1929, in Sharpsville, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Mary (Joyce) Dever. Peter graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1947 and was a member of their 1946 undefeated District 10 championship football team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Signal Corps during the Korean War, based in Ft. Monmouth, N.J. He retired from Bell Atlantic as a supervisor in 1989 after 42 years of service, and belonged to the Bell Telephone Pioneers. He was a faithful member of St. Monica Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores Swogger Dever; two daughters, Theresa (James) McCann, Alliance, Ohio, and Jean (James) Liberto, Oakmont; four sons, William Dever, Beaver; David (Kay) Dever, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mark (Rebecca) Dever, Beaver; and Richard (Linda) Dever, Ohio Twp.; nine grandchildren, Steven (Gini) McCann, Robert (Elizabeth) McCann, Jeffrey McCann, Travis Kost, Heather Dever, Kevin (Megan) Dever, Brett Liberto, Kathleen Liberto and Marissa Dever; two brothers, Edward (Julie) Dever and Patrick Dever, both of Sharpsville; also several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Thomas Dever.

Dolores Dever, 89, of Chippewa Twp., passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 peacefully at home.
Born October 07, 1930 in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Vern and Edith Swogger. She retired from New Horizon School after 22 years as secretary of the school She was a past member of the Chippewa Women's Club, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and past president of ARC. She was a faithful member of St. Monica Catholic Church and a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Peter; son-in-law, James McCann; and brother, Dan Swogger.
She is survived by her loving children, Theresa McCann, Jean (James) Liberto, William Dever, David (Kay) Dever, Mark (Rebecca) Dever, and Richard (Linda) Dever; nine grandchildren, Steven (Gini) McCann, Robert (Elizabeth) McCann, Jeffrey McCann, Kathleen Liberto (Richard) Absey, Brett Liberto, Kevin (Megan) Dever, Heather Dever, Marissa Dever, and Travis Kost; great-grandson, Ryan McCann; brother, Donald (Holly) Swogger; sister-in-law, Millie Swogger; and brothers-in-law, Patrick Dever and Ed Dever.
Services were private due to Covid19. A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Bill Schwartz officiated.
Private interment took place in St. Mary's Cemetery- Sharpsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church- 116 Thorndale Dr. Beaver Falls PA 15010.
The family would like to thank Drs. William Ferri, Timothy Jackson and Richard Schollaert for their care and compassion over the years.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday (3-21-06) for Peter J. Joyce, 608 S. Ninth St., Sharpsville. He died at 2:10 p.m. Friday (3-17-06) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 94.
Mr. Joyce was born April 11, 1911, in Sharpsville to Peter M. and Nora Murray Joyce.
The 1929 Sharpsville High School alumnus served as a U.S. Army captain during World War II.
Peter J. Joyce dedicated his life to Sharpsville government and community endeavors in the Shenango Valley.
Mr. Joyce's years of holding political offices are many and dating back to before World War II, when he was elected to the Sharpsville School Board.
Following the war, Mr. Joyce served as a councilman and mayor of Sharpsville for numerous terms. His last political office was as Mercer County Commissioner.
While in politics, he also owned a grocery store on Main Street in Sharpsville.
During World War II, he served as a captain of the U.S. Army truck company 3891 and was awarded the Bronze Star.
In addition to his political life, Mr. Joyce served on many church organizations. Paramount in his life was his Catholic faith and his membership in St. Bartholomew Church on West Ridge Avenue in Sharpsville, where he was the oldest male parishioner.
Of great importance to him was his position on the board of Catholic Charities, which he held for 50 years, and his participation in the Sharpsville Service Club for 70 years.
He was honored as the Jaycee Man of the Year, the Irishman of the Year and Buhl Park Day Honoree.
Mr. Joyce served as chair of the United Way and was a member of the Pennsylvania Economic League, the Holy Name Society throughout the valley and Mercer County Historical Society.
He was on the board of directors for both the McDowell Bank, now National City; and the Buhl Trustees.
Mr. Joyce was a fund-raiser for Kennedy Christian High School, now Kennedy Catholic High School. He was a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher at St. Bartholomew.
He continued to be a resource on Mercer County history and genealogy.
Mr. Joyce felt it was his duty to serve his church, his community and his country.
He was fascinated by history, especially of the local area, Thomas Jefferson and the Civil War. He often acted as a source of information for others with similar interests.
His wife, the former Madeline O'Connor, whom he married May 15, 1943, died Dec. 21, 2000.
Surviving are: two daughters, Madeline Joyce Caruso and her husband, John, of Richmond, British Columbia, Canada; and Patricia Joyce Lelek and her husband, Ted, of Fairfield, Conn.; a son, Thomas P. Joyce and his wife, Barbara, of Franklin Park, Pa.; five grandchildren, Peter Lelek, Julia Lelek, Maureen Joyce, Madeline Joyce and Peter Joyce; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Dever, Bridget Joyce, Norah Joyce and Catharine Joyce; and a brother, Patrick Joyce.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew Church, 311 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville 16150; or Catholic Charities, 786 E. State St., Sharon 16146.
