(Research):Roger B. Cone, 92, of Temple, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at a long term care facility. Private graveside services will be held in Bellwood Memorial Park under the direction of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

Roger was born in Minerva, Texas, to the late Ryan G. Cone and Winnie E. Dryer. In September of 1940, Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served his country proudly for seven years and was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant. He later met and married Clarice Leeper. Roger went on to work for Southwestern Bell as a lineman. He retired after 36 years.

Roger is preceded in death by his wife, Clarice in 1982.

He is survived by son, Roger D. Cone and wife, Sherry, of Temple, Texas; daughter, Debra Barratt, of Temple, Texas; grandchildren, Cory Cone, of Georgetown and April Cone, of Temple, Texas; brothers, Emmitt Cone, of Waco, Texas, and Conway Cone, of Minerva, Texas; and many other family members, and numerous friends.

Mrs. Doss died Thursday, July 16, in a local nursing home.

She was born May 23, 1920, to John and Alma Cloud Leeper in Rockdale. She married Beno Doss on Sept. 19, 1942, in Rockdale. She moved to Temple in 1950. She worked as a cafeteria manager for Temple schools for 20 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years of Temple; a son, Mel Doss of Phoenix; a daughter, Delores Clark of Houston; a brother, Leon Leeper of Round Rock; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Western Hills Church of Christ.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Vernon R. Yoakum was born on September 1, 1923 in TexasG.1 He and Betty Doss were married on June 10, 1947 in TexasG. He died on July 31, 2008, at age 84.1 He was buried in Rockdale, Milam County, Texas, United States of AmericaG.1
Long-time Texas house mover Vernon Russell Yoakum died in Brenham Rest Home on Thursday, July 31, 2008. Mr. Yoakum was the former owner/operator of Yoakum Housemoving, Inc. in Brenham, Texas. He was born in 1923 in Milam County, Texas to George and Bessie (Leeper) Yoakum. He was educated in the Rockdale schools, and served in the U.S. Army Air Force (Burma/India) during World War II.

On June 10, 1947, he married Betty Doss in Rockdale, Texas. Yoakum was well-known as a house mover, specializing in antique homes. He relocated the moving business from Houston to Brenham in 1957. It is now owned by his son-in-law, Larry and grandsons Scott and Brett. The company is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Brenham.Vernon was an avid hunter and fisherman and shared these pastimes with his son-in-law and grandsons, as well as with his many friends, including Lonnie Landgraf, A.W. Hodde, Clyde Thomas, Charlie Schubert, Morris Bishop, Alois Bilski, Robert Murski, and many others.

Survivors include his wife; their three children: Rebecca Yoakum Schroeder (Larry) of Brenham, Steven Robert Yoakum of Austin, and Christopher Russell Yoakum of Brenham; grandsons: Scott Ashley Schroeder (Kandace) of Brenham, Brett Russell Schroeder (Jennifer) of Brenham, and special "grandson" Taylor Larson, also of Brenham; sister Oleda Yoakum of Rockdale, and sisters-in-law Adele Lumpkin and Nadine Yoakum of Rockdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Eloise Burch, and brothers Herbert Yoakum, George Yoakum Jr. and Robert Lee Yoakum.A Celebration of Life for Vernon R. Yoakum was held at Memorial Oaks Chapel on Monday, August 4, 2008, with Charlie Matejowski officiating. Funeral arrangements were handled by Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham. Due to Yoakum's extreme love for his hunting dogs, the family requested that any memorials be given to the Donald G. Austin Animal Shelter in Brenham. Vernon R. Yoakum resided in Precinct 4, Precinct 4, Milam, Texas, USAG, in 1930.2
