COLUMBUS - Prayers will begin Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church, for Marion E. Nischwitz, 91, who died early Thursday morning at Columbus Colony Nursing Home.

Marion was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Youngstown, the daughter of Patrick and Lorene Hughes Murphy.

She was a 1943 graduate of Ursuline High School. Marion began her career as a secretary, eventually retiring from Youngstown Sheet and Tube.

Marion moved to the Columbus area in 1996 to live closer to her daughter. She enjoyed playing Bridge, and was a member of various Bridge clubs for many years.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Andrew) McGonagle of Columbus; son Robert (Mary Rose) Nischwitz of Green; and five grandchildren, Thomas, Colin, and Micah McGonagle, and Sean and Lauren Nischwitz. Marion also leaves her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Martha Murphy of Liberty, and Mrs. Darlene Nischwitz of Canfield, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Nischwitz; sister Kathleen Madden; and brother Robert Murphy.

Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marion's family has requested no floral tributes. Material tributes may take the form of donations to Kindred Hospice, 540 Officenter Pl. Suite 100, Gahanna, OH 43230.

Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

GIRARD- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Rose Church for Mrs. Helen E. O'Malley, 77, of 987 Beechwood Drive, who died of cancer Tuesday afternoon in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center.

Mrs. O'Malley was born May 8, 1907, in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Murphy Lyden, xoming to Girard in 1933. She was a substitute teacher for the last 25 years for the Girard Board of Education. She was a member of the church and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Her husband, Edwin M., whom she married June 6, 1933, died July 4, 1973.

She leaves two sons, Thomas at home and Edwin of New York City; three daughters, Mrs. Patricia Harrington of Chicago, Mrs. Sally Markarian of Cleveland and Ms. Mary Elizabeth O'Malley of San Luis Obispro, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Two brothers, William and John Lyden, are deceased.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to p.m. today at the McClurkin Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be conducted at 9 p.m.

GIRARD- Edwin M. O'Malley, 67, of 987 Beechwood Drive, died of cancerat 10 a.m. Wednesday at his home following a four-year illness.

Mr. O'Malley was born March 22, 1906, in Girard, a son of Thomas and Catherine O'Connell O'Malley. He was employed as a shipper at the U.S. Steel McDonald Works for 32 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. Rose Church.

Besides his wife, the formr Helen Lyden, whom he married June 6, 1933, he leaves two sons, Edwin and Thomas, both of New York City; three daughters, Mrs Patricia Harrington of Chicago, Mrs. Sally Markarian of Cleveland, and Miss Mary Elizabeth of Columbus; and one brother, John of Girard, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday at the McClurkin Funeral Home, where prayer services will be hed at 9 p.m. Friday.
