Surviving are a brother and sister: Mrs Violet Caldwell and Ambrose. He was a retired motorman for Imperial Coal Co of Coalport and the Sunshine mine. Born July 12, 1906, at Utahville, Beccaria township, she was a daughter of the late Ellis and Hannah (Troxell) Dillen. Surviving are her husband, Ralph Barto; three brothers, Merle Dillon, Cresson; Raymond Dillon, Coalport; Ambrose Dillon, Akron, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Violet Caldwell, Glen Hope. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Mrs. Barto was a member of the Coalport EUB Church, WOTM No. 335, Ladies Auxiliary of the Coalport Volunteer Fire Co. and the Rebekah Lodge of Glasgow. Friends will be received at the Greinader Funeral Home, Coalport, tomorrow after 4 p.m. and until time of services Sunday at 2 p.m. from the funeral home. Mrs. Verda E. Barto, wife of Ralph Barto of Coalport, died unexpectedly at her home last evening after having been ill for some time. She was born in Utahville July 12, 1906, a daughter of Ellis and Hannah (Troxell) Dillen. Surviving are her husband, three brothers and one sister: Merle of Cresson, Raymond A. of Coalport, Ambrose of Akron, Ohio and Mrs. Violet Caldwell of Glen Hope. A sister and brother preceded her in death. She was a member of the E.U.B. Church, Women of the Moose and Ladies Auxiliary to the fire company in Coalport, and of the Rebekahs in Glasgow. Friends will be received at the Greinader Funeral Home, Coalport after 4 p.m. tomorrow.
Coalport - The WOTM No. 335 will conduct services for Mrs. Verda E. Barto, who died Wednesday night at her home here, tonight at 8 o'clock at the Greinader Funeral Home. The Caroline Troxell Rebekah Lodge of Glasgow will hold its services tomorrow night at 8 o'clock and members of the Ellen Wilson Rebekah Lodge of Coalport are invited to participate. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Coalport funeral home and friends will be received after 4 p.m. today. (The Progress April 29, 1960)

(Research):Coalport - Ralph W. (Rats) Barto, 70, of Rosebud, Coalport RD, died Thursday evening at the Altoona Hospital. He was born Jan. 13, 1905, and was a son of James and Patricia (Shank) Barto. A retired coal miner, Mr. Barto was a member of United Mine Workers Local 1724, Osceola Mills, and was a past president of Local 1402, Coalport. He also was a member of the Coalport Volunteer Fire Company, Coalport Moose Lodge No. 350 and the Coalport Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. His first wife, the former Verda Dillon, preceded him in death on May 28, 1960. Survivors include his wife, Sadye Graham Lightner Barto; three stepsons, Richard and Ronald Lightner, both of Rosebud; and Rev. Sidney J. Lightner of Lexington, Ky.; five step-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Baire of Altoona; and two brothers, Orville of Lock Haven and Elwood of Akron, Ohio. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the John J. Greinader Funeral Home, Coalport, where the funeral will be held Sunday, with Pastor Richard Jenks officiating. Interment will follow at the EUB Cemetery, Utahville. (The Progress June 20, 1975)
