(Research):Margaret T. "Peggy" O'Neill, age 80, passed away peacefully Aug. 24, 2021, after a decade battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Peggy was all about her faith, family and fun. We can only imagine the welcoming party in Heaven with her beloved parents, Michael and Mary (nee Walsh) O'Neill; sister-in-law, Deidre McDonald O'Neill; sister and brother-in-law, Maureen and Michael James Brennan; first grade BFF Sr. Judy Cauley, CSJ; and many cousins and friends.
Her family left on Earth to carry out her love of all things Irish are her devoted brother, Jimmy (Kathy) O'Neill; dedicated sister, Anne O'Neill Burns (Daniel J.); cousins-like-a-sister, Sr. Catherine Walsh, SCA, Mary Bernice Lally, and Peggy O'Neill Cooney; many nieces and nephews, Michael Pat O'Neill (Megan), Tara O'Neill Lavelle (Marty), Shane O'Neill (Krista), Michael James Brennan (Jane Brewster), Teresa Brennan, Brian Brennan (Mindy), Maura Burns Sullivan (James), Mickey Burns (Amy), Peggy Burns Bergin (Ryan) and great-nieces and nephews, Katie (Chris), Colin (Katherine), Mary Casey, Deidre, Rory James, Seamus, Finn, Emma, Veronica, Rachel, Erin, Kira, Finn, Liam, Seamus, Quinn, Dylan, Leona, Delia, and Cormac.
Besides all things Irish, Peggy loved shopping. As her Mom used to say, "Earn gold and wear it." Peggy was always meticulously put together in her wears. She loved the hunt of the bargain and loved surprising everyone with "gems" that she found. Peggy spent much of her youth traveling, but especially loved Ireland to visit family. She loved her Cleveland Indians and hardly ever missed a game. Peggy was a proud lifelong member of the Irish American Club-Eastside Inc., and spent many a night with the Ceili dance there. When you are sad, turn on some Irish music and think of Peggy O'Neill. As the song goes, "Peggy O'Neill is a girl who could steal any heart. If her eyes are blue as skies, that's Peggy O'Neill. If she's smiling all the while, that's Peggy O'Neill. Sweet personality full of rascality, that's Peggy O'Neill."
Please join Peggy's family in a celebration of her life 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor.
In lieu of flowers, please support an Irish musician at a local session, take an adventure with your family or donate to Catholic Workers of Akron. https://www.catholicworker.org/communities/houses/oh-akron-catholic-worker-community-of-akron.html
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
