Kevin Patrick McGing, "Big Dad", age 57, of Hammond, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, January 08, 2016. Beloved husband to his best friend, Lisa L. McGing nee Wojcik, for 32 years. Loving father of Melissa McGing, Gregory (Kristen) McGing, Lindsey McGing, and Daniel McGing.

Devoted son of Patrick J. McGing. Cherished brother of Brian (Phoebe) McGing and Maureen (Gary) McGing. Proud grandfather of Jaxon and an expected grandchild in July 2016. Fond nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Preceded in death by his mother Mary E. McGing nee Homan.

Kevin was a hardworking man who loved his family. He retired from Arcelor Mittal Local 1010 on September 1, 2015, after 37 years of service. He was a great story teller who enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, golfing, Notre Dame, Florida trips, and crossword puzzles. He fought a gallant fight with lung cancer until the end. Kevin is, and will always be, remembered as a great man! Melissa A. McGing, age 36, of Whiting, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 06, 2020.

Melissa is survived by Zachary Gilhaus, the love of her life, her beloved son Jaxon Graciano, her loving mother Lisa McGing her devoted siblings Gregory (Kristen) McGing, Lindsey (Joey) Straub and Daniel McGing, her fond niece Kacie McGing, her special step-daughter Kelsey Gilhaus, her dearest grandson Maverick, her cherished maternal grandfather Edward Wojcik and paternal Grandfather Patrick McGing and her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father Kevin P. McGing. Her maternal grandmother Patricia Wojcik and paternal grandmother Mary McGing.

Melissa had an infectious laugh and was always the most beautiful girl in the room. She enjoyed dancing, sports and gardening. Melissa loved her son, Jaxon very much. He was the light of her life. She will be missed by all but is now at peace in the arms of her dad "Big Dad" in heaven.

A celebration of Melissa's life will be Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 3:00 PM until time of service at 6:00 PM with Reverend Charles A. Mosley, Pastor officiating at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, Indiana 46324. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Melissa's family to be used for Jaxon's education. Mathias McGing came from the village of Croghrim at the back of the hill from Tourmacady. He has many relatives still living in the village.

Mathias returned from America in the early or mid 1970s and lived with his Brother Anthony and his wife Mary Kate (nee McGing) and their Family for many years.

Mathias led a rather solitary and private life. All his correspondence from the U.S. came in care of my Dad ( Dan McGing) and this included Mat's Social Security Cheque. I believe that Matt died in the Secret Heart Hospital in Castlebar and was buried in Killavally Cemetery. I have fond memories of him. He was kind and generous and when he came to town once a month to collect his Cheques and mail he brought a big box of Groceries home with him including a Quart Bottle of Powers Irish Whiskey" Mathias worked with the Railway company in the U.S. and although he is dead a long time his union still send me their news letter for him unfortunately I don't have Mathias "Forwarding Address."
