Margaret McDonnell was also known as Margaret O'Donnell. There were three Margaret McDonnell (s) 50, 26 and 11 board the Ship that arrived in Baltimore in 1847. were listed on the ship's manifest dated 24 Jun 1847; port of departure:Liverpool; port of arrival: records for thisMargaret McDonnell would put her age at 15 in 1847. If one of thethree Margaret(s) arriving on this ship is this Margaret, it is mostlikely the youngest one but the age is off by about 4 years. The occupation of the two older Margaret(s) is listed as "weaver". 1847was at the height of Ireland's Potato Famine. One and a half million Irish perished during this famine and over two million fled or were banished by their landlords from Ireland. Many of them died on theships where the conditions were so bad they were referred to as"coffin ships".

1850 Census: Couldn't locate Margaret McDonnell or Margeret O'Connor.

1860 Census: Margeret OConnor, age 28, lives in Baltimore City Ward18 with her husband John O'Connor who is also 28. John is acarpenter. Margeret was born in Ireland.

1870 Census: Margaret Oconner, age 40 lives in Baltimore City's Ward13 with her husband John OConner age 40 and their daughter Mary, age9. John's Occupation is listed as Carpenter, Margaret's as KeepingHouse. Margaret was born in Ireland.

1880 Census: Margt. O'Conner, age 48 lives in the 4th precinct withinBaltimore City's Ward 13 on 26 Rock Street. She lives with herhusband John O'Conner also age 48 and with their daughter Mary, age18. John's Occupation is listed as Carpenter, Margaret's as Keeping House. was born in Ireland.

Details from a copy of Mary Ramsey's (nee O'Connor) death certificate obtained from Maryland State Archives (MSA SC 5458-103-5913,Certificate # C99187) confirm that Mary's mother's maiden name was Margaret McDonnell and that Margaret was born in Ireland. (Research):There is a Margaret O'Connor weho was born 1848 and died in 1903 in the Church registry of deaths. Young mom? But it is a possibility.

But I like this one better, she lived on Hiollins Street.

The neighborhood was going downhill fast in 1961, and I remember it well because we had just moved out of Irvington to Catonsville 2 years before when I was 9 years old.

Saturday, March 18, 1961
A teen-aged Negro robbed two elderly women last night in the 2700 block Edmondson avenue. Mrs. Ethel Livington, 85, and Mrs. Mazie Ramsay, 71, who live at the same address in the 2700 block Harlem avenue, said the youth ran up behind them and snatched Mrs. Livington's change purse,
which contained $1.

The young hoodlum also stole $3.50 from Mrs. Ramsay's coat pocket. He fled west on Edmondson avenue, the victims told Western district police.

John,

From the papers you sent me, I see the Letters of Administration were issued in the estate of John D Bell. Letters of administration means

1. authority to administer the estate of someone who has died without making a will.

So there never was a will for John Bell and when I looked up the name Hannah Bell, nothing could be found.
