Sorted in arrival date order, this chart lists McGings that are found at the Ellis Island Records site. The Year of Birth (YOB) is something I added, so it's good +/- 1 year. As I unravel more details on these people from the Ellis Island site, I am putting them here, just scroll down. This includes a breakout for McGinns and Ging in the charts below when I think they are Mayo related, hence McGing.

* Means that the Ellis Island site says there is a copy of the manifest available, but I've not been successful in getting to it.

The record quality varies, so in some cases I get a lot of data, in others, much less. However, as I review the Ellis Island manifest records, I will recap the pertinent details. In some cases, little or no extra material is available, as some manifest pages are not (yet) available from the Ellis Island site.

June 20, 1888 M McGing, Male laborer, age 40 arrived at New York City on the ship City of Berlin, having sailed from ?? His place of origin was Co Mayo and his destination was Chicago.

May 30, 1892 Mary McGing, age 18, arrived at New York City on the ship Umbria, having sailed from Liverpool, however the manifest appears to me to say Q'town or Queenstown. She could read and write and had 2 pieces of luggage. Her place of origin was Co Mayo and her destination was Minnesota. Note that on line 591 is Bridget Collins, age 17 also from Mayo and also going to Minnesota. See also July 27, 1905.

June 15, 1894. Annie McGing, age 20, arrived in New York City on the ship Germanic, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. She could read and write and had 1 piece of baggage. She was listed as a servant. Her destination was New York City.

July 7, 1894 John McGing, age 27, arrived at New York City on the ship New York, having sailed steerage from Southampton. His occupation is listed as servant. Destination is listed as Pittsburgh, and this was to be a "protracted sojourn." John and Philip (following) had between them 3 pieces of luggage.

July 7, 1894 Philip McGing, age 23, arrived at New York City on the ship New York, having sailed steerage from Southampton. His occupation is listed as servant. Destination is listed as Pittsburgh, and this was to be a "protracted sojourn." Philip and John (preceeding) had between them 3 pieces of luggage.

June 26, 1897 Patrick McGing, age 41 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Lucania, having sailed from Queenstown. Castlebar is listed as his place of residence. His occupation was laborer, and he paid his own fare. He had been in the US earlier, in Boston. The manifest indicated that he was a US resident who was returning to his home, Boston Massachusetts.

May 19, 1899 Mary McGing, age 18 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Cymric, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Queenstown is listed as her place of residence. She was listed as a servant and paid her own fare. New York was her destination. She was going to stay with her cousin Mrs. Carroll, 15 Manhattan Ave., New York.

April 27, 1900 Brid McGing, age 18 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Germanic, having sailed from Queenstown. Westport is listed as her place of residence. Her occupation was listed as a servant, she had never been in the US before. She was going to stay with her sister, who lived at 8 Connenestil (?), New York.

July 20, 1900 Bridget McGing, age 22 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Germanic, having sailed from Queenstown. Queenstown is listed as her place of residence.Her ocupation was listed as servant, and would be staying with her father P McGing, Lowellsville (?) Ohio. Note also that on the same manifest sheet was a John Coyne, age 21 and a laborer who was also staying his uncle P McGing.

October 7, 1900 Bridget McGing, age 18 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Etruria, having sailed from Queenstown. Clifden is listed as her place of residence. Her occupation was listed as servant and her destination was Sharpsville Pennsylvania, where she would stay with Cousin Michael Walsh, Hedge Stock, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania.

April 14, 1902 Kate McGing, age 19 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Saxonia, having sailed from Queenstown. Westport is listed as her place of residence. She traveled steerage. Per the manifest, her fare had been paid by her father, she was a servant and she had $5 when she arrived. She was staying with her cousin, Mrs. Kearns, 42 East 102 St., New York City.

Note that on the next line of the manifest was Delia Kelly, who was age 22 , was also from Westport and also a servant. Delia as well was staying at Mrs. Kearns home in NYC. Note that in October 9, 1904, there is a Delia Kelly listed where people were staying.

July 26, 1903 Michael McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Umbria, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Westport is listed as his place of residence. His occupation was shown as a laborer. His destination was Butte Montana, where he was to stay with his cousin Thomas Gavin, 711 Montana St., Butte Montana. Note also that one Michael Gavin, age 20, of Westport was also traveling to Butte Montana and was also staying with Thomas Gavin. (See July 20, 1907 and March 15, 1913 for other Butte travelers)

August 30, 1903 Bridget McGing, age 19 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Arabic, having sailed from Queenstown. Partry is listed as her place of residence. Manifest does not appear due to error at ellisisland.org.

May 5, 1904 Mary McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Celtic, having sailed from Queenstown. Derrypark is listed as her place of residence. Manifest does not appear due to error at ellisisland.org.

June 2, 1904 Austin McGing, age 26 and listed as single and a laborer, arrived in New York City on the ship Teutonic, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Westport is listed as his place of residence, with New York his final destination. His fare was paid by his cousin, John Kelly, who resided at 466 East 66th St, New York.

October 9, 1904 Delia McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Cedric, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Westport is listed as her place of residence. She came with $4 and was listed as a servant. Her destination was New York, where she stayed with her cousin, Delia Kelly, 406 E 66th St., New York. (See October 9, 1904, October 22, 1904, October 27, 1904, May 16, 1908 and May 30, 1914, people were again at this address)

October 22, 1904 Annie McGing, age 24 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Umbria, having sailed from Queenstown. She is listed a s a US citizen with New York listed as her place of residence. Her occupation was servant and she was going to stay with Mrs. J Derrig, 406 E 66th St., New York. (See October 9, 1904, October 27, 1904, May 16, 1908 and May 30, 1914, people were again at this address)

October 27, 1904 Mary McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Carpathia, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Westport is listed as her place of residence. She had not been in the US before, her sister paid her fare and she is shown as a servant. Her destination is New York, her sister Bridget McGing, 406 E 66th St., New York. October 27, 1904 Annie McGing, age 26 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Carpathia, having sailed from Queenstown. Westport is listed as her place of residence. Manifest does not appear due to error at ellisisland.org.

April 17, 1905 Philip McGing, age 21 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Columbia, having sailed from Glasgow, Scotland. Occupation: Wool sorter. Glasgow is listed as his place of residence. Destination: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Came with $50. Never in US before. Staying with cousin Francis Nugent, 1850 Sartain St., Philadelphia.

May 4, 1905 Thomas McGing, age 25y, 8m and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Oceanic, having sailed from Liverpool. Stockport is listed as his place of residence. Occupation: Laborer. Destination is Butte City, Montana. Brother paid his fare, and he had $11. Staying with his brother Patrick McGing, 310 Copper St, Butte City.

May 4, 1905 John McGing, age 28 and listed as married, arrived in New York City on the ship Oceanic, having sailed steerage from Liverpool. Liverpool is listed as his place of residence. Occupation: Laborer. Destination is Butte Montana, where he was staying with his brother Patrick at 211 North Montana St, Butte Montana. His fare was paid by his brother.

July 27, 1905 Annie McGing, age 22 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Teutonic, having sailed from Queenstown. Manifest shows Tourmakeady as place of birth. Her occupation was listed as servant; her sister paid her fare. She was going to St. Paul Minnesota, Bridget Collins, 973 Culties (?) St., St. Paul MN. Note that on the same manifest sheet, the following people from Tourmakeady are listed: Coyne, Derrig, Stanton and, O'Malley.

August 27, 1905 Patrick McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Umbria, having sailed from Queenstown. Westport is listed as his place of residence. Occupation: Electrician. Final destination, New York City. Came with $20. Staying with friend, W. McLoughlin, 315 W 126th St New York.

May 24, 1906 Annie McGing, age 22 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Teutonic, having sailed from Queenstown. Glenmask is listed as her place of residence. No manifest allegedly available at ellisisland.org.

May 24, 1906 Thomas McGinn, age 23 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Teutonic, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Westport, Co Mayo is listed as his place of residence. New York is listed as destination. Occupation is laborer. Able to read and write. Had $12.00. Was going to stay with his brother, Austin McGinn, 406 66th St, New York City. .

August 19, 1906 Peter McGing, age 18 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Etruria, having sailed 2nd cabin from Queenstown. Westport is listed as his place of residence. His occupation was shop assistant, and he paid his own fare. He was going to stay with his brother, Patrick McGing, 315 W 125th St., New York.

April 30, 1907 John McGing, age 21 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Columbia, having sailed steerage from Glasgow, Scotland. Occupation: laborer. Glasgow is listed as his place of residence. He paid his own fare, and was listed as a laborer. His place of birth was listed as Mayo. He was going to stay with a friend, Patrick McKer(?), 393 W 4th St. New York. He was 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a fair complexion, fair hair, blue eyes.

I have his Naturalization papers. They were filed Jan 25, 1912. In them he states he was 25 years old, a freight handler, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 185 pounds, brown hair, grey eyes. Born June 22, 1886.

July 20, 1907. Austin McGing, born in Westport, Ireland, arrived in New York on the ship Celtic. His prior residence was in Blackburn, England and he sailed from Liverpool, England. Occupation: Iron Worker. He was age 35 upon arrival, and married. His passage was paid for by his brother Patrick, who resided at 119 Wall St., Butte, Montana. He arrived with 37 pounds on his person. He is listed as being 5 foot 8 inches tall, of fair complexion, dark hair and brown eyes. Last resided at 32 Quickworth St, Blackburn (5 years) Closest relative in England is mother, M McGing, 32 Quickworth Sr, Blackburn. (See July 26, 1903, May 4, 1905 and March 15, 1913)

July 20, 1907. Philip McGing, born in Westport, Ireland, arrived in New York on the ship Celtic. His prior residence was in Liverpool, England and he sailed from Liverpool, England. Occupation: Laborer. He was age 30 upon arrival, and single. His passage was paid for by his brother Patrick, who resided at 119 Wall St., Butte, Montana. He arrived with 50 pounds on his person. Last resided at 63 Basdcome Rd, Kirkdale, Liverpool (6 years). Closest relative in Ireland is father, John McGing, Westport. He is listed as being 5 foot 11inches tall, of dark complexion, dark hair and black eyes.(See July 26, 1903, May 4, 1905 and March 15, 1913)

August 18, 1907 Pat McGing, age 26 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Columbia, having sailed from Glasgow, Scotland. Liverpool is listed as his place of residence. Occupation is laborer. Destination is Scranton, Pennsylvania. Closest relative in Ireland is mother, Mrs McGing, Ballinrobe, Srah, Co Mayo. Birthplace listed as Gortmore. His sister paid his fare. He was staying with sister Bridget, 2626 Winton St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was 5 feet, 10 inches, with a fresh complexion, fair hair and blue eyes.

October 2, 1907 Mary McGing, age 21 and listed as single and working as a domestic, arrived in New York City on the ship Carmania, having sailed steerage from Liverpool. Westport is listed as her place of residence. Her closest relative in Ireland is listed as her father, John McGing of Ardee, Westport. Her final destination is Chicago, Il, where she was to stay with her Aunt, Mrs Mary Walsh, 2127 Union Ave, Chicago. She is listed as being 5 feet 4 inches tall, fair complected, fair hair and blue eyes. Ardee is listed as her place of birth.

May 16, 1908 John McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Cedric, having sailed steerage from Liverpool. Ormskirk, England is listed as his place of residence. Occupation: laborer. His sister paid his fare, and his destination was New York, he was to stay with his sister Kate McGing, c/o John Derry , 406 E 66 St., New York. He was 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a dark complexion, brown hair and dark eyes. His place of birth was listed as Kinuary. His brother bought the ticket, and he had $10 with him He had never before been in the US. He was staying with his brother Jim (?) McGing, 924 Woodbridge Rd, St. Paul Minnesota. Place of birth is listed as Mayo. He is shown as 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a fresh complexion, fair hair and blue eyes.

September 11, 1908 Sarah McGing, age 25 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Celtic, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Clonbur, Ireland is listed as her place of birth and residence. Occupation is lady's domestic. Sarah had $10 on arrival, her fare was paid by her sister, Mary McGing, Duquesne Club, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was 5 feet 2 inches tall, had a dark complexion, black hair and blue eyes. May 8, 1909 Patrick McGing, age 24 and listed as single, occupation listed as electrician, arrived in New York City on the ship Campania, having sailed 2nd cabin from Queenstown. He had been in the US, in New York, in 1908. he paid his fare himself and had $50. He was staying with his cousin Mrs. F. Gibbons, 325 W 126 St., New York. He was 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a fair complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. He listed Westport as his place of birth. Closest relative is listed as Mrs. McGing, Westport Co Mayo. New York is listed as his final destination.

May 27, 1909 Kate McGing, age 19 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Majestic, having sailed from Queenstown. Westport is listed as her residence and place of birth. Occupation is servent. Closest relation in Ireland is her father, Joe (Jas, Jon?) McGing, Glenmask, Tourmakeady. Destination, St Paul, Minn. Her fare was paid by her sister, Ann McGing, 924 Woodbridge, St Paul. She was 5 feet 4 inches, fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. Note that she travelled with a John Hallinan, also from Glenmask, also going to St. Paul, staying at same address.

June 24, 1909 Annie McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Majestic, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Westport is listed as her place of birth and residence.Occupation: housemaid. Closest relative in Ireland is her father, Thomas McGing, Westport, Co Mayo. She paid her own fare and was going to stay with her cousin, Mrs. J Gibbons, 2503 8th Ave., New York. She was 5 feet 6 inches tall, fair complexion, brown hair and brown eyes.

May 25, 1910 Austin McGing, age 25 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Carmania, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Westport is listed as his residence and his place of birth. His sister paid his fare, and he was staying with his brother John Gibbons, 2503 82 Ave., New York. He is shown as 5 feet 8 inches, with a fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. Occupation: Laborer. Closest relation in Ireland is father James McGing, Kinnury, Westport. August 14, 1910 John McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Cedric, having sailed from Liverpool. Westport, Ireland is listed as his residence. Westport is listed as his place of birth on the manifest. He traveled steerage. He had never been in the US before, and his sister paid his fare. He was going to stay with her, Maggie McGing, 102 Magnolia St., Dayton Ohio. Per the manifest, he was 5 foot 9 inches tall, with a fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. August 25, 1910 John McGing, age 40 and listed as married, arrived in New York City on the ship Teutonic, having sailed 2nd class from Queenstown. John is listed as a US citizen, having been naturalized in Chicago in 1892. John and Bridget's home was 2815 Hamlin (?), Chicago Illinois. Occupation: Engineer.

August 25, 1910 Bridget McGing, age 30 and listed as married, arrived in New York City on the ship Teutonic, having sailed 2nd class from Queenstown. Bridget is listed as a US citizen, having been naturalized in Chicago in 1892. John and Bridget's home was 2815 Hamlin (?), Chicago Illinois.

May 17, 1911 Catherine McGing, age 28 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Carmonia, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Occupation listed as servant. Ballinrobe is listed as her residence. Ballinrobe is also shown on the manifest as her place of birth. She had $10, paid her own fare and had never been in the US before. She was staying with her brother, Pat McGing, Corner Pub, (or P.O) Scranton PA. She is listed as being 5 foot 7 inches, fair complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. Listed father, Thomas McGing, Partry, Ballinrobe, Co Mayo Ireland as nearest relative in Ireland. Final destination Scranton Pa.

July 19, 1911 John McGinn, age 21 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Olympic, having sailed from Queenstown. Tourmakeady is shown as his residence and place of birth. Closest relation in Ireland is Michael McGinn, father, Churchfield, Tourmakeady, Co Mayo. He had $24, and his sister Mary McGinn paid the fare. She resided at 1108 22st St Louis Missouri. He is shown as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, with fair hair, fair complexion and grey eyes.

September 23, 1911 James McGing, age 38 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Celtic, having sailed from Queenstown. Westport is shown as his residence and place of birth. Shopkeeper his occupation. Living relation in Ireland is shows as his mother, Margaret, Bridge St, Westport. Final destination is New York, NY, where he was going to stay with his brother Peter, 121 3rd Ave, NY NY. he's listed as being 5 feet 10 inches, with a fresh complexion, brown hair and blue eyes.

September 23, 1911 Katherine McGing, age 28 and listed as single, and a non-resident alien domestic servant arrived in New York City on the ship Campania, having sailed from Queenstown. New York City is shown as her residence, where she had been living from 1900 - 1911. Closest relative in Ireland is her mother, Mrs McGing, Kinuary, Westport. She was staying with her sister, Mrs. T ????? 225 W 246 St, New York. Sh eis listed as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with fair complexion, brown hair, gray eyes. Place of birth listed as Graiguemanagh, Ireland.

March 15, 1913 Mary McGinn, age 36 and her sons John. Age 11 and Bernard, age 7, arrived in New York City having traveled steerage on the ship Baltic from Queenstown. Mary is listed as housekeeper, the children as scholars. Westport is shown as their residence. Their closes relative in Ireland is listed as mother-in-law and grandmother respectively; May McGinn, Tenbag <?>, Westport, Co Mayo. Their fares were paid for by Austin McGinn (McGing, see July 20, 1907) husband and father. They were traveling to where he resided; 32 East Woolman St., Butte City, Montana. Mary is listed as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. No descriptions on the boys.

May 6, 1913 Patrick A McGing, age 18 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship California, having sailed steerage from Glasgow. Guilane, Scotland is listed as his residence. Occupation: Chauffer. His place of birth is listed as Westport. He was staying with a (?) McCarness (?) of Boston. He was 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a pale complexion, brown hair and gray eyes. Closest relation is father Austin McGing, 9 Summerside Pl, Guilane Scotland.

May 23, 1913 Sarah McGing, age 21 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Celtic, having sailed steerage from Queenstown. Westport is listed as her residence and place of birth. Occupation is servant. Closest relation in Ireland was her mother, Sarah McGing, Kenyary, Westport. Her sister paid her fare, and had $10 upon arrival. She was staying with her sister Kate McGing, 308 E 136 St., New York. She was 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. Final destination was New York.

May 26, 1913 James McGing, age 23 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Carmania, having sailed from Queenstown. Westport is listed as his residence. Final destination, Detroit Michigan, where brother Austin resided at 133 Army Avenue, Detroit. He came with $10, and had never been in US before. July 25, 1913 Jane McGing, age 19 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Cedric, having sailed from Queenstown. Tourmakeady is listed as her place of birth. Occupation: Servant. Closest relative in Ireland is father James, Churchfield, Tourmakeady Co Mayo. Destination was Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Would stay with Cousin, John Conoboy, 2123 Justin St, Pittsburgh. 5 foot, 7 inches, fair complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes. Note that a Julia Conboy and Kate Coyne both from Tourmakeady were also travelling with Jane.

July 25, 1913 John McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Cedric, having sailed from Queenstown. Maam is listed as his place of birth. Occupation: Laborer. Closest relative in Ireland is father Michael, Shanafaram, Maam, Co Galway. Was going to Pittsburgh PA, to stay with his sister, Mary McGing, Duquense Club, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. July 25, 1913 Michael McGing, age 21 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Cedric, having sailed from Queenstown. Westport is listed as his place of birth. May 30, 1914 John McGing, age 30 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Baltic, having sailed in a 2nd class cabin from Queenstown. Westport is listed as his residence. He had been in the US (New York) before, in what appears to be 1904. He is staying with John Derry, 406 E 66 St. New York. He is listed as 5 foot 10 inches tall, with a dark complexion, dark hair and blue eyes. October 8, 1916 Bridget McGiny (McGing), age 22 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the Ship St. Louis, having sailed steerage from Liverpool. Ireland is listed as place of residence and Westport as place of birth. She paid her own fare, and her destination was Chicago, where she would stay with her cousin Annie Quinn, 5437 Lakeview Ave, Chicago, Illinois. She is listed as being 5 feet 2 inches tall, with a fresh complexion, dark hair and brown eyes.

November 5, 1916 Bridget McGinn, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the Ship St. Louis, having sailed steerage from Liverpool. Churchville Ireland is listed as place of residence and as place of birth. October 9, 1920 Patrick McGing, age 35 and his family returned to New York on the ship Aquitania, which had left from Southampton, England. They traveled steerage. Westport was listed as their last residence. The family included spouse Mary, age 30, Margaret Ellen, age 9, Mary Esther, age 8, Julia, age 6, Catherine, age 4 and Patrick, age 10 months. Per the manifest, Patrick was 5 foot 7 inches, had a sallow complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. Mary was 5 foot 4 inches, had a fair complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. Patrick is listed as an electrician. Closest relative in Ireland is listed as brother James, Peter St, Westport. Chicago is their final destination.

She was going to stay with her sister, Mary McGing, Duquesne Club, 6th Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Closest relative in Ireland is her mother, Norah McGing, Shanafarahan, Co Galway. She was 5 feet tall, with a fair complexion, brown hair and gray eyes. Her place of birth was Tourmakeady.

September 13, 1921 Martin McGing, age 20 and listed as single, arrived in New York City on the ship Assyria, having sailed steerage from Glasgow, Scotland. Gelnmask, Co Mayo is listed as his place of residence. He had never been in the US before. Martin paid his own fare, and arrived with $25. He was staying with his brother Michael M'Ging, 1254 N.
